The project includes a research activity through the conduction of two surveys. The first survey is directed to an audience of 300 Roma people encamped in informal settlements, who will be involved in a semi-structured interview with 60 questions aimed at describing their living condition through the main social dimensions: education, labour, health, home and access to services. The second survey, on the other hand, is directed to the operators, officials and managers working in the 15 Municipalities of Rome and to the associations adhering to the CESV network. The purpose is to portray the strengths and weaknesses of the system of services for the reception and inclusion of the Roma. A combined interpretation of the two surveys will be able to yield a body of information useful to the political decision makers in order to improve their social policy action towards the Roma. From this perspective, fundamental elements of the research will be the enhancement of the competences concerning anti-discrimination, the realization of methods of action towards the Roma based on the education about rights and duties and on integration courses more sustainable and less at risk of resulting in segregation (National strategy for the inclusion of Roma, Sinti and Caminanti 2012/2020 in application of the EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies dated 2011).
